Our most exciting weekend of racing yet for the Madison Multisport Team with 21 teammates competing and 8 of them racing their first 70.3 distance event. Read on only if you want to be inspired by these amazing athletes!
Door County Sprint - Saturday, July 18
Carolyn - Another great leap of improvement in each discipline taking 1st on the swim, averaging over 19.5mph on the bike, and cruising with an 8:30/mile pace on the run. Now that is a recipe for a victory… and she did it, posting 1st place in her division.
Erin W - Another great finish for this camper, using a speedy 10th best run of the day to cruise right into the top 25% in her division.
Dotty - In dominating fashion, Dotty claimed divisional victory in every aspect of the race from swim to bike to run. She is truly the champ!
Karen - She podiums again, this time taking 3rd place in her division with the 2nd fastest swim and 3rd fastest bike split. A cold beverage is certainly going to taste good in that new awards glass!
Door County 1/2 Ironman - Sunday, July 19
Ben - He covered the 70.3 course faster than he even thought possible for himself, posting a 4:29:51. And his effort put him at the top of his age group, posting the fastest bike split, and 2nd fastest on the swim and run.
Brodie - In the toughest age group of the day, BB placed 12th in his division with a solid race and a blazing 21.6mph average bike split.
Tino - Most improved! With a 20 minute PR from this event last year, Tino took the challenge of the day with ease and determination.
Dave D - 6 months ago, this guy couldn’t swim and now he is making the veterans look slow. Due to a running injury, Dave ended his day after a great swim and bike and spent the rest of the morning cheering on his MM teammates.
Scott - Kept pace with last years results (posting the 3rd fastest swim) until a chronic achilles heel (pun intended) caused him to slow down on the run and cruise it in to the finish. Kudos to Scott for showing amazing mental toughness.
Ed - Another remarkable result, racing over 16 minutes faster than last year with improvements in all 3 disciplines. And, he placed in the top 10 in his uber-competitive division.
Charlie - At age 62 he isn’t getting any younger, but he most definitely is getting faster! He finished in just over 6 hours and took 6th place in his division.
Michael - Completed his first ever 1/2 Ironman distance event in just over 7 hours and was elated at the finish for a job well done. You know what’s next, Michael!
Dave O - He is one step closer to achieving his goal of the IM finish line… with a successful ½ IM under his belt and a boost of confidence knowing that he can go the distance.
Lauren - Completing the race in just over 5 hours, Lauren posted the fastest bike split of all female competitors and placed 5th overall. This girl is the real deal.
Anna - This girl does not have a weakness, and she has a stellar positive attitude to go with it. She claimed top 20 in her division and held steady the entire day showing no flaws in her excellent execution of the day.
Candice - In her short tri career thus far, she jumped right into the 70.3 distance and had a blast the entire day. This girl knows how to race, and enjoy every minute of it.
Jenn - In her Half-Ironman debut, Jenn proved that she can race with the best at all distances, taking 5th in her age group with a sub 5:30 day.
Heidi - And to think she was nervous for this event! Heidi rallied for the challenge and enjoyed an exceptional day, completing the 70.3 distance. Where is that 70.3 bumper sticker?
Jon/Lisa - ‘Complimentary’ injuries allowed these two to form the perfect team (just like in real life) with Jon doing the swim and bike and Lisa finishing off with the run. They were both able to participate, enjoy the competition and take the opportunity to challenge themselves with a fun event.
