Podiums at Pardeeville

Madison Multisport rocked the local triathlon scene with spectacular results this past Saturday.

Kathleen- She claimed the top spot on the podium in her age group with a wicked fast bike split… and also fast enough for 5th place female overall.

Ronée- This girl doesn’t even know how to slow down, posting the fastest bike split in her division to land on the podiums top spot and place 3rd overall.

Erin- Did this girl really just have a baby? With the fastest swim and transitions, and 2nd fastest run, she leapt to first place on the podium in her division and 4th place female overall.

Anna- Another rockstar performance for the results book, improving over 4 minutes from last year. Anna posted the 2nd fastest bike split for 3rd place in her division and cracked the top 10 overall with a 9th place finish in the female field.

Carolyn- She was off the start line with a dolphin-like swim, combined that with a stellar bike/run combo, was the 100th participant across the line, and improved on her results from last year by 2 minutes.

Christine- What a race! Posting the 3rd fastest swim and bike to claim 4th in her age group and crack the top 25 overall.

Terri- She’s back! Putting together a solid swim/bike/run trio for top 10 in her division and hungry for the next event.

Meistro- This guy just keeps getting faster with a new PDville PR. He proved that he has no weakness (2nd swim, 5th bike, 4th run), landing in 3rd place on the podium and placing in the top 20 overall.

Charlie’s Angels - Heidi, Candice, Charlie- Claimed the top spot on the podium for the mixed relay and posted the 4th best times (of all relays) in each discipline. How is that for a well balanced team?

Verona Triterium Triathon a success for Team Madison Multisport

Olympic Distance - 1.5K swim, 25.5 mile bike, 10K bike
Ben- Did the double this weekend with a ½ marathon on Saturday and the Triterium on Sunday. He improved on his previous best performance by 7 minutes, posted the fastest run split, and jumped to 3rd place in his division.

Charlie- Will someone do an aging study on this guy? At age 62, he just keeps getting faster, over 8 minutes faster than last year and moving up to 2nd place on the podium.

Dave D- Making huge improvements on the swim over the past several months put him right in the middle of the pack. He followed that with a solid bike-run combo for top 50% in the field.

Dotty- Her competition doesn’t even bother showing up… Dotty has declared herself the dominate leader in the 55-59 age group in the local tri scene and did it again on Sunday, showing she has no weakness in the sport of triathlon.

Congrats to the Madison Multisport athletes who celebrated St. Patrick’s Day by participating in the Shamrock Shuffle 5K/10K.

5K
Jeanne M- The duet of Jeanne and Nell encouraged each other every step of the way, showing that racing is a lot more fun when shared with teammates.
Nell B- No longer a 5K virgin, Nell completed her first running event in record time. I have a feeling we are going to see a lot of PR’s from this girl this season.
JenRN- The pager didn’t buzz, so she got to complete the day, crossing the finish line in the top ½ of her age group and overall for the women.

10K
Dave D- Loving every minute of Observatory Drive, Dave charged to the line for top 1/3 in his age group and top 1/3 overall.

Dennis H- Racing for a stepping stone to the Madison Marathon, Dennis clipped off a fierce pace for 3rd in his age group.

Back in the Saddle

I cannot believe we are already through the first few weeks of January and moving with full steam into the new year.

The Madison Multisport team is ‘back in the saddle’ and training to reach their 2009 goals.  An exciting year of training and racing events awaits.  In this pre-season time, we have our goals set on some great local running events; including the Shamrock Shuffle, Monona 20K, Madison Marathon, and CrazyLegs Classic.  Most of us will start out the year with the local season opener, the Lake Mills Triathlon (sprint) and also our backyard favorite, the Verona Triterium Triathlon.  We have claimed “The Door County Triathlon” as our team destination race with teammates in both the sprint and half-ironman events.  We’ll be looking to wrap up our season at Ironman Wisconsin, the Devil’s Challenge Triathlon, or a fall marathon challenge.

In addition to our Madison Multisport Team training, we are offering a number of clinics and events in our community.  Check out our FREE Race Preview Clinics, Open Water Swim Training, and new this year, Women’s Only Triathlon Clinics at the Madison Trek Store.

It is going to be an exciting and successful season for the Madison Multisport Team.  We hope you will check in often and join us on our journey as we pursue our goals with passion.
